対掌体の一方をキラルな医薬品として開発する場合には、その鏡像体を通常の不純物の場合と同様の考え方で管理する必要があるが、技術的な限界から、その含量測定や安全性の確認を通常の不純物と同じレベルで行うことができないこともある。
