In his book Soft Power: The Means to Success in World Politics, Harvard Professor Joseph Nye expounds on the importance of the cultural power of a nation. He lists the three ways a nation can exert power: through threats and force, through payments and sanctions, and through charm. These three avenues correspond to military power, economic power, and soft power. Soft power has three components: diplomacy, universal values related to concepts such as human rights and peace, and cultural power. The importance of cultural power cannot be ignored."NIPO-347", "2361467"
